The last movie you watched..

Post by bamse » Mon Mar 09, 2009 4:32 pm

I thought it might be nice to have an on going thread where you can talk about the last movie/s you watched. And give them a rating, short review.
Anyway I'll start it off and maybe it will go somewhere.

Friday
Watchmen - Visually stunning, suprising + sick soundtrack, damn she was so hot and did I spot camel toe? Montages, montages, montages....Too much slow motion - but that is Zack Snyder. The social commentary during the film was a bit more subtle from what I read so far in the comics.

Saturday
Role Models - One of the worst films I have seen for a long time. This didn't get a single laugh from my friends and I but instead 4 ounces of disgust at how bad a film can be.
Punisher: War Zone - Jesus this was a shocker. Fine there was violence and lots of it plus a pretty good shoot out scene at the end. But other than that there were no redeeming features of this film, also Dominic West's (From The Wire and 300) accent made me feel sick.

Sunday
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans - Average trash minus Kate Beckinsale, at least it was short. Something to watch while you idle in IF/Dalaran.
What Doesn't Kill You - Very predictable but I enjoyed it due to Mark Rufallo's performance.

All in all a terrible weekend of films, will need to clean my palette over the next few days. Maybe some suggestions?

Thursday
Gonzo - The life and work of Dr. Hunter S Thompson (again): Hilarious documentary about a very fascinating beautiful and disgusting figure.

Saturday
Idiocracy: Funny concept, horrible execution.
Rushmore (again): Lovely lovely film, in every way.

Sunday
Bottle Rocket (again): Original, weak acting.

Monday (today):

Watchmen - first hour was pure awesomeness, after that it got more and more boring and by the end I was left with a feeling of a mere mediocre or even badish film. I'm so disappointed. I think I'll save the effort and just give some smilies to the movie instead of sharing every single detail that got to me both in good and bad:

Music: :smt007 (though too loud)
Visual effects: :smt009 (too much, srsly)
Characters:
Storytelling: :smt013

Overall: :smt010 :smt010 (that's right, 2 sad pandas [out of 5 happy pandas])

That was Rhona Mitra.

Monday. Gran Torino. Clint Eastwood grunting all the time. Not half as good as his other films.

Yep that's why I said 'minus' Kate :)

I would have to disagree :P Beckinsale has a nice tight body, and has a nicer face. But all the same to me :) They are both still untouchable :P

Last night:
X-men Origins - Wolverine.

Sloppy acting, weak dialog, messy plot.

I watched the workprint(without CGI). Hopefully they'll sort out some proper cutting for the final release.

Good thread!

Watched Bin Jip yesterday from television without knowing much about the movie. Was surprisingly good, actually really good for my taste. I'd give 8,9 out of 10.
