A norwegian band named Kvelertak has just released their debut album (Selftitled). Pretty damn solid dark punkmetal, you should check it out. Probably one of the best norwegian debut albums.

Available on spotify/wimp/what.cd

Yea it's very cool. It's kinda Turbonegro-ish with a tint of JR Ewing

Not bad at all, the music is actually quite good but the vocals are shit IMO.

I'm not much for punk though.

Kvelartak has cool music, but I hate their vocals.

They said hold your head up high
Raise your fist up in the air
Play metal louder than hell
Louder than hell

They can't stop us
Let 'em try
For heavy metal
We would die!

Considering the name of the thread I find it odd that noone has posted a Thrash-metal list. In my eyes, thrash is the mother of alot of the contemporary metal genres. Also missing from the list is Doom/stoner metal.

Thrash - expect fast paced solos and riffs. You no like? Skip this.

Anthrax

Exodus

Death Angel

riffs, solos, more riffs, more solos. One of the best thrash tracks - imo.

Megadeth

My undisputed favorite band - ever. Dave Mustaine needs an award for being awesome. Metallica fans - I know what you are gonna say - haters gonna hate.

Artillery

Danish thrash with a gutwrenching sound.

Kreator

Godfathers of thrash. While this track might not compede for their best ever, I chose it for the awesome John Carpenter refference in the solo. If you don't get it - you don't care.

Slayer

No I didn't choose reign in blood.

Judas Priest

You know you love them.

Stoner/doom metal - expect slow paced riffs and solos. You no like? Tough nuggies

Sleep

Yes it is in 7 parts and well worth the 1h it will take you to listen to it.

Black Sabbath

Old skool doom metal.

Orange Goblin

Kyuss

That's it for now. If anyone are interested I got tons more where this came from, but these are atleast some of the major "actors" on their respective scenes.

Megadeth is one of the worst live acts ever, I left after about three songs.

Exodus is one of the better live bands I've seen however.

[rant]Exnine is the worst poster ever - stopped reading after 3 words.

See what I did there?

While I can't dispute your experience with Megadeth live, I don't see how 1 liveshow enables you to cast the judgement of "worst live act ever" - especially when you leave after 3 songs. Also I don't see how you extremely subjective opinion about your sole encounter with the band in any way contributes to the thread. Even youtube trolls can do a better job. [/rant]

As far as Megadeth's live acts are concerned they have definately deteriorated since the late 90's, but in the meantime Mustaine has been resurrected from the dead and has lost the feeling in his shredding arm. I don't know if you judge bands based on their current live acts alone - if you do, your point (allthough vague) is a valid one - but the megadeth I love was formed in 1983 and has kept being (various degrees of) awesome till now.

Yes I know I am gonna get ranted right back, but hey. That's what the interwebz are for.

I left after barely three songs because they put up an awful performance, now I don't listen to Megadeth very much but I am not alone to think that their performance at GRF10 was awful, there was no heart in it, just "another day at work" for them.

They were one of three headliners on a festival with bands like Exodus, Cavalera Conspiracy, Overkill, Motorhead, Meshuggah, Raised Fist, Cannibal Corpse, Triptykon, The Crown, Vader and so on. Sonic Syndicate put up a better performance then MD, that's when you know something has gone totally to hell.

Motorhead was pretty bad aswell, the best part of their performance was when they brought in some chicks that played with fire.
